1. Who is Jonah? Dr. Eli Goldratt, author of The Goal and inventor of Constraint Management, has been described as “a genius” (Business Week), “an iconoclast” (The Economist) and “a guru to industry” (Fortune). The Goal is autobiographical; the character Jonah was modelled on Dr. Goldratt himself. Since then the Goldratt Institute has trained other Constraint Management experts and certified them as “Jonahs”.
2. What does a Jonah visit involve? Constraint Management provides “a persuasive solution for factories struggling with production delays and low revenues” (Harvard Business Review). Even highly profitable companies can benefit from the further quantum leaps in performance that Constraint Management offers. Just like the Jonah character in the book, real-life Jonahs can provide practical and powerful insights into your business. If you’d like to first speak to a Jonah on the phone, we could arrange a call.
3. Why ViAGO®? ViAGO® helped over a hundred companies implement concepts from The Goal, as well as more recent developments such as DBR. Today more Jonah-qualified consultants work for ViAGO® than for all other companies in the Asia-Pacific region combined. ViAGO® has invested a quarter of a million dollars educating and training its team; some have been trained by Dr. Goldratt himself. Now this expertise is available to you… For free!
4. Why does ViAGO® offer free Jonah visits? “If your plant folds, then the value of your learning won’t have been much; you won’t owe me anything. If, on the other hand, you make billions, then you should pay me accordingly” (Jonah- The Goal, p.83). A free visit allows us to demonstrate value. An important part of what we do is to help companies get started with Constraint Management. Most are then able to implement themselves. Although we don’t make money off such successes, they do offer excellent publicity for Constraint Management. Of course some companies do require our help to implement, or possibly a bit of education (i.e. further books / courses).
5. Is the visit obligation-free? Not quite. To be eligible for a visit, we expect you to have studied at least 15 chapters (120 pgs.) of The Goal. (However finishing the entire book will enable you to derive even more value from the visit.) Additionally, to ensure the visit is fruitful, we will provide your team with some preparatory homework to be completed before the visit.
